Originally from Washington, DC, Elizabeth went to college in Boston before moving to New York and attending Columbia University for graduate studies. Elizabeth’s life experiences compliment her dynamic, creative and fulfilling professional expertise. Elizabeth has a range of clinical and social work practice which provides her with a unique approach and outlook on recovery and treatment. Formerly the Clinical Director at one of Los Angeles’ premier substance abuse treatment programs she also has held the position as a therapist at the West Los Angeles Veteran’s Administration. With 23 years of recovery and extensive clinical training, Elizabeth’s practice is firmly rooted in the respect and the dignity of her clients while building trust with a deep commitment to the process of change. Elizabeth looks to explore the thread connecting the past to the present and to uncover the unique qualities and strengths of her individual patients. Engaging and encouraging, Elizabeth believes in the self-determination and self-empowerment, through trauma informed psychodynamic and attachment theory insights, Elizabeth draws upon the strengths of the client to connect and promote change. Believing that perception is paramount in the process of self-discovery she utilizes cognitive behavioral approaches to effect behavioral and perceptual adjustments.
Elizabeth has expertise in substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, co-dependency and attachment disorders. Elizabeth has significant experience working with creative and entertainment industry artists, professional adults, young adults, teens and parents. Elizabeth has extensive experience working with Veterans of the United States Armed Forces, including current era combat veterans. Along with Elizabeth’s clinical expertise she has significant experience with policy, program and executive leadership.
Elizabeth is married to a musician and the mother of two girls. Her favorite things to do with her family include spending time on Cape Cod and in New York City, seeing live music, being outdoors and spending valuable time with close family friends. Elizabeth maintains a private practice in West Los Angeles.
