Melody J. Anderson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 22 years in private practice in Westwood and Manhattan. She received her Masters Of Social Work from New York University in 1997.
Ms. Anderson completed her family training at The Ackerman Family Institute in New York in 1998. Throughout her years of her practice, she has contined to broaden her skills by training in the trauma treatments EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), TRM (the Trauma Resiliency Model), CRM (Community Resiliency Model) and NAT(Neuro-Affective Touch).
Ms. Anderson specializes in treating individuals, couples and families coping with their, or a loved ones’ addiction and trauma issues, as well as healing grief, relational conflicts, life change issues such as job loss, grief, spiritual wisdom and mental illnesses. She created and was the Coordinator of “The Intensive-Outpatient Program” and “Family & Friends Program” at Hazelden New York. Ms. Anderson has facilitated groups for the dually-diagnosed in Los Angeles at Promises Professional Treatment Program, Promises Out-Patient Center, Bridge To Recovery and several local sober living centers.
Ms. Anderson has presented at local, national and international conferences on families and addiction. She has also lectured to UCLA and Cornell medical residents about the effects of addiction on the family and best practices treatment. Ms. Anderson presented the trauma skills of the “Community Reliency Model (CRM)” at Milestones Center in Malibu.
Ms. Anderson continues to be a media resource for radio, television and documentary films. She also wrote, produced and hosted her weekly call-in radio show, “A New Day,” in New York City. She has been published several times in the magazine “Keys To Recovery.” Currently, Ms. Anderson is writing a book for parents with children who abuse substances.
