Richard has a degree in Cultural Anthropology from UCLA and has been practicing the principles of 12 step recovery since getting sober in 1991. Utilizing mindfulness, and incorporating a spiritual sensibility, Richard has developed a unique guided mindfulness meditation. Richard has facilitated groups and individual sessions at various recovery and sober facilities around Los Angeles, including nine years working at Promises Treatment Centers in both Malibu and West Los Angeles as Spiritual Director. Richard works with families, couples and individuals using his own life experience to bring thoughtful guidance, mindfulness, meditation and spiritual solution into daily living. In 2007 Richard released “A New Beginning” a half hour guided mindfulness meditation CD and in 2010 he released “In This Moment”, a CD including five individual meditations addressing the specific topics of anxiety, the positive self, and sleeplessness. In 2009 Richard was a presenter at the American Association of Addictive Psychiatry in Los Angeles, with Dr. Jack Kuo and Dr. William Huang (two of the leading addiction psychiatrists in Los Angeles). In 2010 Richard was a presenter along with Dr. Jack Kuo and Dr. William Huang at The Holistic Treatment Convention, “Changing the Way We Look at Recovery” in Las Vegas Nevada as well as the 7th UK/European Symposium on Addictive Disorders in London, with Dr. William Huang, focusing on the topic of Mindfulness for Co-Occurring Disorders, and the Seattle Mindfulness Convention in 2012 with Dr William Huang. Richard is also an award winning singer/songwriter and co-founder of “The Wider Road” offering one and two day spiritual retreats.
At Resolutions Therapeutic Services, Richard facilitates individual Mindfulness Meditation and Spiritual Counseling sessions, as well as Meditation and Recovery groups.
