Stefanie Boone, MS, RD, CEDRD is a Registered Dietitian specializing in Eating Disorders, and Nutrition for Addictions and Mental Health. She received her undergraduate education in dietetics and Masters of Science Degree in Nutrition from California State University, Northridge.
Starting out at the Eating Disorder Center of California (Brentwood), Stefanie then went on to became Lead Dietitian at the Kaiser Permanente Eating Disorders Program, Los Angeles Medical Center, where she led and co-facilitated CBT-based groups on nutrition education for eating disorders, food and feelings, body image, and emotional eating for both adults and adolescents.
Between 2011-2015 Stefanie was a Program Dietitian at Clearview Treatment Program’s multiple facilities that included The Women’s Center Residential DBT Day Treatment Program, and the Residential and Outpatient Programs for Psychiatric Disorders and Addictions.
Between 2008-2015, Stefanie was a consulting Dietitian for Visions Adolescent Treatment Centers Outpatient Program, and a Program Dietitian for Visions Inpatient and Extended Care Programs as well.
Thanks to having the unique opportunity to work in a DBT adherent environment, Stefanie is well-versed in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and has woven the DBT philosophy and skills into her work. This has added a new dimension and level of effectiveness to her work with clients who have food issues co-existing with complex mental health issues. These concepts include mindfulness, taking a non-judgmental stance (and helping clients do the same), and finding the balance between acceptance and change.
Stefanie helps clients with eating disorders and disordered eating to heal their relationship with food by encouraging self-care and self-acceptance. She works with clients to help stabilize eating and metabolism, achieve and maintain a healthy weight, reconnect with hunger and fullness signals, dispel nutrition myths and misinformation, and identify situations and feelings that trigger maladaptive eating and exercise behaviors. For people in recovery from addictions, she often helps with the basics, such as general nutrition education, meal planning, and grocery shopping.
Stefanie is a member of the American Dietetic Association, California Dietetic Association, IADEP, and the National Eating Disorders Association. She has spoken at numerous professional seminars on Nutrition Therapy for Eating Disorders, including conferences offered by Del Amo Hospital, and often speaks to adolescents at local schools on Eating Disorder Prevention.
Stefanie is one of the contributing authors of Real World Recovery: Intuitive Food Program Curriculum for the Treatment of Eating Disorders.
For the past four years, Stefanie has been one of the two Dieticians at RESOLUTIONS Therapeutic Services. She evaluates each of the IOP clients for a thorough nutrition assessment, conducts on-going individual nutrition counseling sessions, and co-facilitates the DBT Skills Group.
