About Us

As an intensive outpatient program (IOP) in Santa Monica for the treatment of primary mental health, trauma, addiction, and dual diagnosis (co-occurring disorders). RESOLUTIONS has gradually become the premier outpatient program in the greater Los Angeles area, offering an individualized, holistic, and integrative approach using only evidence-based treatment modalities.

Staffed by licensed clinical psychologists and board-certified psychiatrists who have all worked for world class residential and outpatient treatment centers in the past, the RESOLUTIONS team offers a level of clinical depth and experience that is unparalleled among existing outpatient treatment programs.

At RESOLUTIONS, our mission is to provide the most effective treatment possible so that clients can lead more enriched and happy lives and enrich the lives of those around them. We will seek to be of service to clients by providing an overwhelming sense of security to them as they heal, through honesty, dependability, and an unwavering respect for them as individuals. A safe environment will allow clients to recover and strive to live a healthy life both physically and emotionally, which will allow them to maximize their potential and be of service to others. Clients are encouraged not to turn their back on their weaknesses, but rather turn those liabilities into their greatest assets so they can become active and contributing members of society. RESOLUTIONS staff members will go above and beyond their role as an employee, even after clients complete their treatment at RESOLUTIONS, because they are committed agents of change and passionate about their work.

History and Mission

RESOLUTIONS Therapeutic Services in Santa Monica, CA is the culmination of over 500 years of combined experience of clinicians working in the mental health and addiction treatment field. During this time, the RESOLUTIONS clinical team has learned from thousands of patients, including not only those who had successful treatment episodes, but also those who relapsed or had recurring depressive episodes. Both groups of people have provided very useful information as to what factors contribute to long-term success following residential treatment. We paid attention to what worked, and have implemented all of those ingredients at RESOLUTIONS. More importantly, we listened to our clients when they described what didn’t work, which enabled us to learn from their negative experiences and make sure we fill any gaps that existed in their previous experiences with treatment. We wanted to answer those difficult questions that family members and loved ones often asked. Why were so many people relapsing after going to some of the best residential treatment centers throughout the country? Why was treatment unsuccessful?

After years of working at some of the world’s most renowned treatment centers and seeing the high failure rates, our RESOLUTIONS team has learned to identify some of the common reasons why people were not getting better. First, the underlying issues beneath the addictive and/or maladaptive behavior were never resolved. At RESOLUTIONS, we have made it a priority to not only treat the presenting symptoms and disorders, but also the core issues underlying them. Some of these contributing factors include untreated mental illness, unresolved grief, depression, anxiety, and unresolved trauma. RESOLUTIONS offers one of few dual diagnosis programs that properly diagnoses and effectively treats co-occurring disorders. Unlike many of the other programs out there that offer cookie-cutter approaches to treatment using primarily “one-size-fits-all” groups, RESOLUTIONS is a customized program that focuses on one-on-one treatment designed to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Another reason for the staggering recidivism rates among clinical populations who go into treatment is inadequate after-care planning. Many people don’t realize how vulnerable they still are after completing 30-60 days in residential treatment; often times they feel much better than when they first checked in to rehab and thus see their continued sobriety and/or mental stability as a quick flight to health. It’s only after completing treatment and returning to their home or work environments that they realize just how overwhelming it is to come out of a highly supportive and sheltered environment then suddenly return back to their real life. There are many triggers that they were not able to anticipate and therefore they were ill-equipped to cope with some of their difficult realities and manage daily stressors. That is why IOP following residential treatment is so critical. There needs to be continuity of care following rehab so that individuals can address some of their issues on a deeper level and consolidate the gains they made. At this stage in the recovery process, outpatient treatment needs to be individualized for each person because no two individuals have the same set of challenges and/or life situations. RESOLUTIONS does just that.
